YSL's Newest Perfume Gives You The FREEDOM To Express Yourself
YSL’s latest scent, LIBRE checks all of the boxes of everything I look for in a perfume. “A new, sexy cool floral. Grown between France and Morocco. Conceived between Paris and New York. Walking the line between the masculine and the feminine...”
LIBRE means Freedom in French and is everything the house of YSL embodies.
“I am aware that I made Fashion progress, and that I allowed women to access a world of freedom that was prohibited to them until then.”
Yves Saint Laurent
Like most people, I’m extremely selective with fragrances. I don’t like anything too sweet, too floral, too fresh, and prefer warm blends. For reference, some of my faves are Tom Ford Soleil Blanc, Tom Ford Santal Blush, CHANEL Coco Mademoiselle Eau De Perfum Intense. One the days I wear florals, I go for complex and sophisticated scents like CHANEL N°5, CHANEL N°5 L’EAU, or Anine Bing Savage Rose.
LIBRE is stunning in every way I can imagine. If you look closely at my opening photo of the perfume bottle, you’ll notice I’ve already used a fair amount considering I’ve only had it for a week.
The bottle itself is a work of art featuring the iconic Cassandre logo that was created in 1961. The glass bottle is cut with geometric lines similar to that of a tailored suit. The neck of the bottle is adorned with a gold chain and the slanted black cap adds asymmetrical glamour.

A Look At Pat McGrath's New Foundation. Is It Worth It?
Is there anything better than a foundation promising sublime skin? Mmm… probably but even still, but this is probably a close second.
Over the weekend I picked up the new Pat McGrath Skin Fetish Sublime Perfection Foundation with high hopes. I’ve been following Pat’s career since I was a teen, devouring the looks of her runway creations in pages of fashion magazines. That was the 90’s people and yes, I’m that old and have been beauty and fashion obsessed for as long as I can remember.
For those who don’t know, Pat McGrath is an iconic makeup artist who has created looks for all of the top designers such as Alexander McQueen, Givenchy, Gucci, Versace, Maison Margiela, and Yohji Yamamoto to name a few. Her eponymous makeup line has been around for a couple of years now and has gotten quite the cult following in a short time.
The Skin Fetish Sublime Perfection foundation is her first foundation and comes in 36 shades.
I don’t want to give away too much in this post as I want you to watch my YouTube review, but I can tell you this: the results are disappointing.
I performed my wear test for two days while we experienced hot and humid weather conditions in Toronto. I was indoors in an air-conditioned environment for most of the day and probably spent 30 mins outdoors.
During this time I didn’t change my skincare or makeup routine. I also set the foundation with a setting spray one day and used the new Fenty Beauty Pro Filt’r Mattifying Primer the next day.
I’ll leave it at that for now. Make sure you click the video above to see my results!

Pre-Fall Vibes
I know, it might seem too early to start thinking about fall considering how hot it’s been. Even still, we only have a month and a half of summer left, and I’m already dreaming of sweater + leather weather.
I think fashion people love fall because it calls for layers, therefore more interesting outfits. We can accessorize with scarves, oversized sweaters, and play with textures.
This fall season I’ll probably go back to my usual all black, but I’ll be layering in plenty pops of colour - green, hot pink, yellow, blue - you name it and I’ll wear it.
An item I'm excited to start wearing is this green silk scarf from Balenciaga with the chain pattern on it. It happens to be from the SS19 collection, but I’ve linked a few alternatives for you down below.
It’ll be a good one for layering with blazers and leather moto jackets once the weather starts to cool down. Now honestly, who else is looking forward to the end of summer?

Transform Your Home With This One Thing
Scent is powerful and has a way of elevating mood and experience. It can just as easily ruin it too, via a stinky gym bag or the smell of unfavourable cooking.
My appreciation for home fragrances truly started when I started working from home as I wanted something to keep my senses active and inspired. For example, I’ll diffuse an orange essential oil when I’m trying to focus on a project or when I want to lift my mood, as it’s known for helping with depression and anxiety.
On my self-care days when I’m masking and washing my hair, I’ll light a rose-scented candle to create a softer, more relaxing mood.
For summer I like more tropical scents that remind me of being on holiday. However, I don’t like anything that smells artificial or too sweet as it always results in a stomach ache for me. (Does anyone else get this?)
For summer I’m enjoying the Coconut & Palm scent from NEST. It’s fresh, fruity & citrusy with notes of “crushed coconut, sparkling bergamot, and vanilla musk”, according to the brand’s description. The scent comes in a limited edition candle and reed diffuser and comes a pretty a green patterned container that’s perfect for displaying on your coffee table or powder room.
And in case this one sounds too summery for you, check out NEST’s Grapefruit candle, a personal fave, or the Apricot Tea one, a close second. Both convey a sparkling, uplifting scent that’s awesome all year round.
Remember, the next time you want to transform the mood of your home, light a candle or use a diffuser.

8 Ways To Wear A Suit Right Now
Julie Pelipas gives us an updated version of the traditional suit by going for shorts. She accessories her look with sleek yellow strappy sandals and a silver clutch.

An oversized suit looks effortless with a pair of white Vans and brown tote.

Luka Sabbat is probably one of my favourite people for fashion inspiration. Here he wears a plaid grey suit for a feature in GQ with a colour blocked cardigan underneath. His personality comes through with all stacks of badass silver jewelry.

The easiest way to make a suit look effortless is with a pair of sneakers. I paired this grey plaid suit with red Adidas x Alexander Wang sneakers. I also ditched the handbag and just used my LV agenda and clutch instead.

Even after all of these years Mary-Kate Olsen continues to dominate the fashion world without even trying. I love how she layered a bunch of necklaces to go with her oversized navy suit.

I couldn’t help but feature Julie Pelipas again as she looks so chic in all white.

I wore this pink gingham Zara suit (from their spring 2019 collection) for my best friends baby shower. I wanted to dress up and still wear pants so I opted for a suit. A pink satin blouse and hot pink metallic Gucci loafers makes the outfit more fun and contemporary and less stuffy.

Love these distressed Adidas sneakers with a simple brown suit.

How To Wear Green Right Now
Admittedly I’ve never been a fan of the colour green until recently. Something clicked in my brain one day and so the obsession began.
In addition to picking up a green Loewe puzzle bag, I also treated myself to an impractical pair of satin florescent green Balenciaga flats. (Impractical in the sense they’re hard to walk in for one. They’re also satin which means every stain would show so god forbid I spill anything.)
Nevertheless, the addition of green shoes feels refreshing, especially when worn with all black. There’s something edgy about the contrast that speaks to me.
For a more subtle look, wear a neutral coloured outfit with a green accent. On the opposite side of the spectrum, wear head to toe green for a bold monochromatic look. And finally, wear a swipe of green shadow on the eyes while leaving the rest of the makeup neutral for a cool and unexpected twist.
